One of the biggest stories of the NFL Draft was Shedeur Sanders, whose fall alone has been a massive story, receiving a prank call from an Ole Miss student posing as an NFL general manager who told Sanders he would be selected.

It was revealed on Sunday by the Atlanta Falcons that the culprit was Jax Ulbrich, the son of former New York Jets interim head coach and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, who serves now as the defensive coordinator of the Falcons.

There were initial reports that those involved might get slapped on the wrist here.

Those reports are wrong.

The NFL has fined the Falcons $250,000 and has fined Jeff Ulbrich $100,000 for their sloppiness, essentially, in allowing the Sanders prank call to occur.

"Earlier in the week, Jax Ulbrich, the 21-year-old son of defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, unintentionally came across the draft contact phone number for Shedeur Sanders off an open iPad while visiting his parent's home and wrote the number down to later conduct a prank call," a statement from the Falcons read. "Jeff Ulbrich was unaware of the data exposure or any facets of the prank and was made aware of the above only after the fact.

Jax Ulbrich took responsibility for the prank, posting an apology on Instagram.

"On Friday night I made a tremendous mistake. Sheduer, what I did was completely inexcusable, embarrassing, and shameful. I'm so sorry I took away from your moment, it was selfish and childish. I could never imagine getting ready to celebrate one of the greatest moments of your life and I made a terrible mistake and messed with that moment. Thank you for accepting my call earlier today, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me," he wrote.
