Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders was pulled over and ticketed for allegedly driving 41 mph over the posted speed limit early Tuesday.
Sanders was pulled over around 12:24 a.m. Tuesday for speeding, according to a police report obtained by TMZ Sports. The report claims what Sanders was driving 101 mph in an area with a posted speed of 60 mph.
At the time he was pulled over, Sanders was driving a 2025 Dodge pickup truck with Colorado plates. He was issued a citation, meaning he can either plead to get the ticket dismissed or simply pay a $250 fine.
While Sanders will face no major legal consequences for the incident, the optics come at a pretty bad time for him. He is competing for the chance to start for the Browns, and has an uphill climb after falling to the fifth round of the NFL Draft.
It does not help that some teams felt Sanders lacked maturity and did not take the pre-draft process seriously. This incident could reinforce those concerns, even if it may not be too serious in the grand scheme of things.
Sanders has earned positive reviews for his work during offseason programs so far. One has to wonder if this will undo some of that progress.
