Josh Reynolds didn't have the best of seasons last year with the Denver Broncos and then the Jacksonville Jaguars as the receiver played what some critics might call so-so football.
But there was a reason for that, with Reynolds having been the victim of a 2024 shooting in Denver - he sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his left arm and back of his head - maybe he didn't really recover from a football standpoint.
Now he's a New York Jet, and after playing for a host of teams throughout his nine-year career, the Big Apple is his next stop.
And as OTAs continue for Aaron Glenn's team, Reynolds revealed why he chose the AFC East franchise as his next stop.
"I think the biggest thing was Coach Glenn," Reynolds said. "I knew what kind of coach, what kind of person he was, I knew what kind of culture he was going to bring here and I knew I'd fit well with the Jets. So, I was like, 'Yeah, I think that would be a good situation.' I was excited to be a part of it."
With Reynolds playing three seasons with the Lions, most of which were with both Glenn and his Jets offensive coordinator, Tanner Engstrand, it is easy to see why Josh made the choice he did.
Familiarity is key in the NFL, and for a veteran who is perhaps looking to prove a couple of people wrong and help this franchise navigate these troubled seasons, New York feels like the right spot.
Last year, Reynolds was only able to play in nine games. He had 13 receptions for 194 yards and one touchdown in his time with Denver and Jacksonville.
"Life is precious for sure," Reynolds said. "The more you have to think about it, the more you have to kind of relive it. So, I've moved past it. I'm here in Jersey and ready to get going."
So much is unknown about New York in 2025, with many seeing tough times ahead for Glenn and Co., but in Reynolds, the Jets locker room has a point of contact when it comes to what to expect from this new regime.
And that might be an underrated aspect of Reynolds being a Jet in 2025.
