Should Cardinals be buyers or sellers at the 2025 NFL trade deadline?

GLENDALE – With the NFL trade deadline just over a week away, the 2-5 Arizona Cardinals will have to make a quick decision on whether they want to buyers or sellers. Currently on a five-game losing streak, Arizona has a 21.6% chance of getting a top five pick. However, the Cardinals have only lost by a total of 13 points during this stretch, showing signs of how close the team is to turning the season around.

General manager Monti Ossenfort will need to decided which side of the coin he believes in, that will influence how he’ll move around Nov. 4th NFL trade deadline.

To sell or not to sell?

Arizona will have the fourth-hardest schedule remaining in the final 10 games, which will likely force Ossenfort to take a hard look of his tradeable players. The defense is a gold mine of players that would garner a return in draft assets. The most noticeable is defensive tackle Calais Campbell.

Campbell has made it clear this season is likely his swan song, which makes the chance of his departure farfetched. Despite that, if Ossenfort wanted to be ruthless, Campbell has three sacks on the year and five tackles for loss. The six-time Pro-Bowler’s leadership would be a useful skill for a contender to take a swing on to raise the Lombardi Trophy.

Outside linebacker Baron Browning has had a stellar start to his second year in the Valley, after arriving last season from the Denver Broncos via a sixth-round pick. Ossenfort could look to flip the 26-year-old for a Day 2 draft pick to get a nice return on his investment in Browning.

The Cardinals pass rush has been brutal in recent weeks, with Campbell and Browning being the lonely bright spots. Arizona would be fully committing to tanking this season by selling off those pieces to recoup draft picks for the 2026 season. With the road ahead, the only way out seems to be seller at the trade deadline, but head coach Jonathan Gannon remains invested on fixing this year’s team. The decision will be a tough one for Ossenfort to make ahead of next week.
