Should Chiefs pursue Tyreek Hill amid Rashee Rice issues?

The Kansas City Chiefs' offseason plans may have taken a drastic turn. Their lack of additions to the wide receiver room showed major confidence in Rashee Rice, and that could come back to haunt them.

Rice will spend 30 days in jail after violating his probation, and that could take a major toll on his rehab from knee surgery.

As such, the Chiefs might want to dip their toes in the free agency pool and sign another pass catcher.

For most of the offseason, Tyreek Hill has been tabbed as a no-brainer return to Arrowhead Stadium. However, all things considered, the Chiefs can't afford to add another big-name player with issues off the field.

The Chiefs can't afford to bring Tyreek Hill back, and not because of money

Hill's return makes perfect sense from a football standpoint. Even if he's not the player he used to be and is coming off a major injury, he's already familiar with Eric Bieniemy and Andy Reid, and he has proven chemistry with Patrick Mahomes.

Nevertheless, if the Chiefs move on from a player whose off-field behavior can become a distraction, signing another who's constantly tangled up in scandals makes no sense. That should also eliminate Stefon Diggs from the equation.

Granted, Hill's lifestyle and issues off the field have never affected his performance on the field.

However, considering his age, injury status, recent production and what the Chiefs are going through, perhaps bringing him back is a risk they simply cannot afford to take.
