Should Packers doubt QB Jordan Love after loss to Broncos?

After Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love underwhelmed in a 19-17 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday, it's fair to doubt that he's the next franchise quarterback in Green Bay.

"Jordan Love has 11 games to keep his starting job," wrote Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson. "If there was anything we learned about the NFL on Sunday, it was that reality."

Against a Denver defense that was allowing 31 points per game, Love went 21-of-31 for 180 yards and two TDs. However, he threw a costly interception to safety P.J. Locke with 1:40 left in the fourth quarter, and he didn't exactly produce great numbers against a weak defense.

"We all know it's ups and downs, but I think everyone is very frustrated," the 24-year-old QB said in a postgame news conference. "Got to find a way to win these games. We've been put in these positions multiple times where it comes down to [the] offense has to go win the game, and we have not capitalized on it."

To be fair to Love, not all of the offense's problems fall on him. Green Bay (2-4) is 17th in the NFL in points per game (21.7), 24th in rushing yards per game (90.8) and 28th in yards after the catch (597).

Still, Love's play has been erratic. He has just 57.5 percent of his passes and has tossed 10 TDs to seven interceptions with a below-average 49.6 QBR.

While it is the former first-round pick's first year as a starter in the NFL, he spent three years as an understudy to four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers. Surely, the Packers were hoping he'd be a bit more polished even in his first season as the guy.

"It's not time to press the panic button on Love," wrote Matt Schniedman of The Athletic. "But few, if any, could blame people for having the preliminary thought. Love may be in his first year starting, but he's not a rookie. He had three years to learn behind Aaron Rodgers. Nobody expected him to light the NFL on fire, but this? This is not good."
