Should Steelers trade an offensive lineman after free-agent adds?

The Steelers haven't been shy in rebuilding their offensive line through free agency. However, after adding a couple of new pieces, should they move off another one?

If the price is right, absolutely. Guard Kevin Dotson seems to be the odd man out after Pittsburgh signed guards Isaac Seumalo to a three-year, $24 million contract and Nate Herbig to a two-year, $8 million deal.

Seumalo will likely take over the starting role at left guard, which was held by Dotson in 2022, while Herbig will work as the team's swing.

The Steelers won't get a ton of compensation for Dotson, but he is still only 26 and has 30 starts under his belt. Dotson is also entering the final year of his rookie deal, so a team could see how he plays in 2023 before signing him to a new contract.

It makes sense for Pittsburgh to move off its 2020 fourth-round pick as it has a massive hole between picks on day three in the 2023 NFL Draft. The Steelers have pick No. 120 in the fourth round but then aren't scheduled to select another player until No. 236 in the seventh round.

If Pittsburgh could gain a fifth or sixth rounder in exchange for Dotson, it would feel like a fair deal for both sides. Or the Steelers could use him in a package to trade up at some point as well.

Either way, Dotson's days in Pittsburgh seem to be numbered so the Steelers should try and get something for him while they can.
