It’s week 9 already! Where has the time gone? Here is my list of sits for week 9 in fantasy football.

Isaiah Likely TE Baltimore Ravens

After last week’s breakout performance, many people likely (see what I did there) rushed to add Isaiah Likely to their waiver requests. However, this week he ends up on the list of sits for week 9 in fantasy football. I’m not taking anything away from his 6-catch 77-yard and 1-touchdown performance. I think long-term Likely is very playable if Mark Andrews misses any significant time. The matchup is not great for him this week. The Saints give up an average of 4.86 yards to tight ends. An opposing tight end has not reached double digits against them all season. Pick Likely up but wait until next week.

Alvin Kamara RB New Orleans Saints

Kamara managers rejoiced after last week’s performance. This week he is on my list of sits for week 9 in fantasy football. Similar to Likely, the matchup doesn’t seem favorable to me, especially with recent moves. The Ravens just traded for Roquan Smith who has been racking up tackles this season. Smith is a quick linebacker who can keep up with Kamara in the passing game. Also, after the breakout performance last game, I expect John Harbaugh and his coaching staff to outcoach Dennis Allen and find a way to shut down Kamara.

TJ Hockenson TE Minnesota Vikings

My list of sits for week 9 in fantasy football all seem to have similar themes. I like Hockenson in the long term. He is another weapon that Kirk Cousins can go to outside of Justin Jefferson. This week is just too quick in my opinion. Will Hockenson be able to pick up the offensive playbook in a matter of days? Maybe he will pick up some of it but that will limit his snaps. Even if he is on the field for a large number of snaps, the unfamiliarity with the offense will show this week. Put Hockenson on the bench this week and be ready to deploy him for the playoff push.

Tee Higgins WR Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals’ offense looked like a mess on Monday night against the Browns. While Higgins did have a decent stat line, he ends up on my list of sits for week 9 in fantasy football. Some players are just a better WR2. The loss of Ja’Marr Chase hurts the value of Higgins. While he still led the team in targets and did catch a touchdown, I am nervous to start players on the Bengals’ offense. The offensive line gave up 5 sacks Monday night. The Panthers’ defense is also no joke with Brian Burns coming off the edge and a strong secondary. Be careful starting Higgins this week.

Jared Goff QB Detroit Lions

In my list of starts, I talked about the Packers-Lions game being a shootout. So it may come as a surprise that Goff ends up on my list of sits for week 9 in fantasy football. Here’s the weird thing about the Packers’ defense. They have been really good against quarterbacks this season in terms of fantasy. They are giving up the 7th lowest amount of points to opposing quarterbacks and held Josh Allen to a season-low last week. The Packers are also good at getting to the quarterback and Goff has never done well under pressure. While I still think this game is high scoring, I would be very cautious about starting Jared Goff this week.

This has been a volatile fantasy season. Coming up with a list of sits for week 9 in fantasy football is tough because I could also see a world where all of these players win the week. Good luck with the playoff push!
