Six undrafted free agents that fans should have on their radar as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' rookie minicamp approaches

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers moved quickly after the 2025 NFL Draft concluded, reaching agreement with a number of players who did not hear their names called in the draft.

Now, with rookie minicamp set to take place in Tampa from May 9-11, the team will get a closer look at their new draft picks and undrafted signees. Here are six undrafted free agents that Bucs fans should have their eye on this offseason, starting next weekend.

6) Marshall CB JJ Roberts

Roberts is an interesting player for a couple of reasons. Obviously, the Bucs are looking to improve their depth at corner, as Todd Bowles noted at the NFL owners meetings back in March, so he's heading into more of an open competition for roster spots than perhaps some other UDFAs are.  His 2024 stats at Marshall are interesting in that he allowed a 70.3% catch rate and 132.6 passer rating. However, he had 11 pass break ups last year with a PFF coverage mark of 89.9 and defensive grade of 91.5.

5) Nebraska C Ben Scott and 4) Texas C Jake Majors

Yes, I'm putting them here together as one, because there doesn't appear to be much between them. And the Bucs offered them both very similar money on undrafted free agent rookie deals. Per Spotrac, the Bucs offered Scott $265,000 guaranteed at signing and Majors $260,000. That's the sixth and eleventh most money guaranteed to UDFAs in the league this year. Clearly the Bucs see both as having potential to stick as the backup to Graham Barton this year, so their performances starting in minicamp should be followed closely.

3) Colorado S Shilo Sanders

The last name says it all, doesn't it? Deion's son heads to rookie minicamp without the pressure of his brother, Shedeur, in Cleveland, but perhaps with an interesting opportunity on Tampa. The Bucs are looking to improve the depth in their secondary, where what they had behind their starters in 2024, including at safety, wasn't good enough. Sanders will need to do better in coverage than he did in 2024, when he allowed an opposing passer rating of 155.8, per Pro Football Focus, in 322 coverage snaps.

2) Georgia State OT Ben Chukwuma

Chukwuma, a native of Nigeria, has played on just 23 games of football in his life, and those came over the last two years at Georgia State. However, at 6'6", 310 pounds, he has the size, frame, and athleticism to develop into a good player even at the NFL level. The Bucs are banking on that development as well, guaranteeing him $300,000, tied for second most in the NFL. Clearly, they're interested, so he's a player fans should be looking out for in minicamp and training camp.

1) Florida DT Desmond Watson

I've talked about Watson before, but I - and others - think Watson has a legit shot of making the 53-man roster. You can't teach size (6'6", 437 pounds) and he moves well for being that big.  He has high situational value in short yardage defense. He's one of the most likely players to make the roster out of this group, so he's worth keeping an eye on.
