Social media posts fuel speculation on Brandon Aiyuk's future

The San Francisco 49ers might already be engaged in an offseason game of social media warfare with one of their star players.

Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and several members of his inner circle expressed discontent with the franchise following a 25-22 overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in Super Bowl LVIII.

Aiyuk had 75 receptions for a career-high 1,342 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 2023 but had just three catches on six targets for 49 yards in the Super Bowl.

Per the New York Post, Aiyuk's girlfriend, Rochelle Searight, posted a TikTok on Monday labeled "Happy 49ers Travel Day of Shame" as she picked Aiyuk up from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

"This might have been the last day we touched foot on Levi's Stadium," Searight said. "Because we might not be out here next season."

Aiyuk's best friend and former teammate, Draysean Hudson, posted several times to his Instagram story in direct reference to the Super Bowl. Hudson added a video of Aiyuk open for what could have been a touchdown against the Chiefs and seemed to advocate for a trade to the Las Vegas Raiders.

"This is the exact reason we leaving San Francisco," Hudson wrote. "Thank you 49ers for drafting my brother we are forever grateful. BA to Vegas."

"Why does your All Pro 1300 yard receiver have 3 catches in the Super Bowl?," another post by Hudson read.

Aiyuk might not have much of an option on where he plays next year. He signed a four-year, $12.1 million contract with the 49ers after he was drafted in 2020 and the team has already picked up the fifth-year option that will pay Aiyuk $14.1 million in 2024 before he becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2025.

Aiyuk posted a cryptic message seemingly directed at the 49ers on his Instagram story, via Fansided.

"Don't forget what you got there," Aiyuk wrote, adding a pair of eyeball emojis.
