Hardman -- a career-long member of the Kansas City Chiefs -- is a free agent this offseason and may find himself moving on, as record-setting tight end Travis Kelce and 2022 second-round pick wideout Skyy Moore (among others) will presumably be back with Patrick Mahomes in 2023.
Before Fields transferred to Ohio State for the 2019 and 2020 campaigns, the Bears quarterback played the 2018 season with Hardman at the University of Georgia. Though Fields played behind signal-caller Jake Fromm on the depth chart, he obviously had a connection with Hardman.
Fields finished the 2018 season 27-for-39 for 328 passing yards and four touchdowns (adding 266 yards and four touchdowns on 42 carries), while Hardman collected well over 1,000 all-purpose yards as a wide receiver, kick returner and punt returner. The 2019 Pro Bowler was second on the Bulldogs in receptions (35), receiving yards (543) and receiving touchdowns (seven).
Despite constant rumors over what Chicago might do with the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, it's been recently reported that Fields' job as the starter is safe, and the Bears are "leaning toward" trading down from the spot.
If Hardman wants to head to the Windy City, it looks like he'll have that chance to reunite with Fields.
