This is one of the hardest parts of the football season for the coaches and managers of the Las Vegas Raiders. As these guys are building relationships with some of the players, they are now being forced to cut some of them -- 37 to be exact, as they have to get their roster from 90 players, down to 53. And, it has to be done by August 28.
One of the difficult decisions the Raiders staff will have to make involves their wide receiver room, where they do have the best one-two punch in the AFC West, including over the Kansas City Chiefs. However, some of the depth behind those two is a bit shaky.
The Raiders will have to decide if they want to keep five, six, or heck, even seven wide receivers on this roster -- one that works well with two tight ends in 12 personnel. Then they will have to decide who those players will be. We know who guys 1-4 are, and five and even six are guys that showed a bit of flash during preseason. One of them was the star of their last game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Tyreik McAllister's performance, highlighted by an 81-yard punt return touchdown and a touchdown reception where he snagged the ball out of the air with a defender on him, has sparked discussions on whether such standout moments in the preseason are enough to secure a roster spot.
He thinks he deserves a spot, and the fan base agrees with that statement.
“I believe I do.”

“I believe I do," Tyreik McAllister said after the game. "I've put the ard work in, had a lot of hard times, but I believe I have the skillset to play at this level."
Before making his mark in the NFL, McAllister played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League during the 2023 season. There, he led the league in kickoff return average and all-purpose yards, demonstrating his value as a return specialist.
Initially, McAllister signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2022. His tenure with the Broncos was brief, marked by practice squad stints and eventual release. McAllister joined the Raiders this offseason, where he's been making waves, particularly in the preseason. Now, he may very well be on the Raiders roster when the initial 53-man comes out.
