The Philadelphia Eagles will be tested early and often throughout their 2025 regular season, but two late-season matches against their NFC East rivals will truly determine the division's winners.
Only four of the Eagles' opponents in this season's schedule missed the playoffs. They are going to have playoff rematches against the Los Angeles Rams, Green Bay Packers, and the Kansas City Chiefs.
There is one other playoff team they must beat twice and potentially determine the NFC East title: the Washington Commanders.
The last three games of the regular season do not favor the Eagles, as they have two straight road games in Week 16 and Week 17. They start with the Commanders on the road in Week 16 on that Saturday and face the Buffalo Bills the following week, which is also away from Philadelphia.
Week 18 will feature the Eagles back at home, but they will have to face the Commanders once again. This game will be circled on the calendar as critical, as it might determine the division title.
Last season, the two teams split the regular season series. The series was broken up after the Eagles laid 55 points on the Commanders to win the NFC and get them to the Super Bowl.
Philadelphia has owned the series with the Commanders since the 2021 season. The Eagles have won seven of the last nine meetings against Washington. Of the previous five games, only the NFC Championship game was not a one-possession game.
There weren't any expectations for Washington a season ago, and now it appears that the Eagles and Commanders will battle for the NFC East. This will be an actual test for the young players on Philadelphia's defense as they will be challenged with one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL with Jayden Daniels.
With the Eagles facing the Commanders late in the season for the second straight year, Philadelphia knows two wins against Washington could be all the Eagles need to win the NFC East title and start their pursuit of a second straight Super Bowl championship.
