Start your week right with this college hoop parlay

Sunday was all about the NFL, and Monday is all about college basketball. If you parlayed the 49ers and Bengals to both win yesterday, congratulations. You made good money. And if you're looking to keep that momentum going on Monday, you'll put some serious cash on this college basketball parlay.

Coastal Carolina might not be known for its hoops program, but with the Chanticleers hosting abysmal Chicago State on Monday, there's no reason not to take CC on the moneyline. And even though it's been an off year for Duke, we found a can't-miss on the Blue Devils via the alternate spread line against slumping Virginia Tech.

Chicago State is arguably the worst team in all of college basketball at 4-16 overall, and 0-16 on the road. And not to rip on Chicago State too much, but it's been like that for a while now. The Cougars have a career 284-829 record in 39 seasons — that's a .255 winning percentage, in case you were wondering — and haven't won 10 or more games in eight straight years.

So, unless a miracle happens on Monday in South Carolina, the Cougars are well on their way to losing their third straight game, and 17th road game of the year. Coastal Carolina is far from good. However, the Chanticleers have won back-to-back games and are 7-3 at home. And it doesn't matter how much CC wins by, they just need to simply win for this leg to hit. That shouldn't be a problem, especially considering how bad CSU is.

As for the other leg of our college basketball parlay, take Duke (+7.5) via the alternate spread line. Let's be honest: it's been a down year for the 14-5 Blue Devils. I mean, who would have thought Duke would be unranked this time of year?

But you know what's even harder to grasp? Why the Hokies are favored in this ACC matchup. Yes, Virginia Tech is 8-2 at home this season, but they've also dropped seven straight games and are just 1-7 in conference play.

We wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if the Blue Devils pull off the road "upset," but with even odds on the parlay despite Duke (+7.5) on the alternate spread line, that's just too good to pass on. The Blue Devils have certainly had their problems on the road in ACC play, but still, even if Duke doesn't win, don't expect it to be by more than seven.

No. 1 Houston falls to unranked TempleTop-ranked Houston might not be No. 1 for long, as the Cougars were upset by Temple, 56-55, on Sunday. The Cougars were 19-point favorites entering Sunday's game, making Temple's victory the largest upset over an AP No. 1 team since Stephen F. Austin defeated No. 1 Duke as a 27.5-point underdog back in 2019.
