Steelers' Aaron Rodgers did this for Colts' Daniel Jones after injury

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers knows a little bit about what Indianapolis Colts signal-caller Daniel Jones is going through this winter.

Rodgers famously suffered a torn Achilles in September 2023, while Jones went down with the same injury on Dec. 7, 2025. After Kirk Cousins suffered a torn Achilles in October 2023, Rodgers revealed that he reached out to Cousins about rehabbing from the setback.

The future Hall of Famer is once again offering his services to a member of the quarterback community.

Aaron Rodgers has spoken with Daniel Jones since brutal injury

"Rodgers has offered Jones advice on attacking his rehab during phone conversations in the weeks since Jones was injured," ESPN's Stephen Holder shared.

It's hardly a stretch to say that neither Rodgers nor Cousins has been the same player since their injuries. Rodgers went 5-12 as a starter for the 2024 New York Jets before a regime that didn't acquire his services decided last winter it wanted to go in a different direction. He may now retire following his rough outing in Pittsburgh's 30-6 wild-card playoff loss to the Houston Texans.

Meanwhile, Cousins signed with the Atlanta Falcons in March 2024. He was later benched in favor of then-rookie Michael Penix Jr. when Atlanta was 7-7 in December of that year. The Falcons are expected to part ways with Cousins before March 13.

Have Colts made Daniel Jones decision for 2026?

After Indianapolis' 2025 season wrapped up, Jones and Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon indicated both are open to extending their working relationship. Jones is on track to reach free agency when the new league year opens in March, but it seems like his rights could be retained before that date arrives.

"Barring a stunning turn of events, Jones will be the Colts' starting quarterback in 2026," Holder noted. Holder added that Indianapolis could use the franchise tag projected to be worth over $45M for the 2026 season to hold onto Jones, if necessary.

It's still far too early to say what Jones will and/or won't be come September. That said, it appears the Colts don't want him to attempt to build upon the best regular season of his career with a different club later this year.
