The Pittsburgh Steelers host the Buffalo Bills on Sunday at Acrisure Stadium for a Week 13 matchup. They're looking to bounce back after dropping to 6-5 following a loss to the Chicago Bears.
Though the team was without quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was ruled out due to a left wrist injury. It's the first game he'd missed with the Steelers after signing a one-year, $13.65 million deal this past offseason.
At 6-5, the Steelers sit in second place in the AFC North behind the 6-5 Baltimore Ravens, who currently hold the tiebreaker. Pittsburgh is looking to win the division for the first time since 2020. Having Rodgers against the Bills would be a big boost in the right direction.
Going into the Week 12 matchup against the Bears, the 41-year-old quarterback was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday, but improved to limited on Thursday and Friday.
Unfortunately, it appears he may have taken a step back because on Wednesday, the Steelers announced their first Week 13 injury report, revealing Rodgers did not participate in practice.
This season, the four-time MVP has been solid, completing 192-of-289 passes for 1,969 yards, 19 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 97.7 passer rating.
His absence on Wednesday doesn't come as a major surprise. When asked by ESPN's Brooke Pryor whether or not he'd be comfortable taking snaps under center, Rodgers said, "Not today. Not today. We'll see about later in the week."
The Bills have struggled to stop teams from scoring, ranking 17th in points per game allowed (22.9). It's an area the Steelers can exploit with the hope of Rodgers leading the offense.
Pittsburgh still has two more practices before revealing any game statuses. Whether or not his wrist injury progresses in the right direction will be an indicator of whether Rodgers can suit up.
Kickoff is Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET, airing on CBS. ESPN's matchup predictor currently gives the Steelers a 44.2% chance of winning.
