Steelers Awaiting NFL Punishment Decision After Alvin Kamara Incident

The New Orleans Saints dropped their fifth game of the NFL season in Paris this past Sunday, losing by a final score of 16-10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Saints offense struggled to get any points on the board and the biggest reason why was the Steelers defense completely shutting down the run game and putting all the pressure on quarterback Tyler Shough. Shough had a solid game through the air, throwing for 278 yards and a touchdown, but it was not enough.

Shough’s top target on the day was veteran running back Alvin Kamara. Now in his 10th NFL season, the 31-year-old veteran has continued to be a reliable target through the air, even though he is no longer an efficient ball carrier.

During the loss to Pittsburgh, Kamara was involved in an incident that could draw further punishment from the NFL. On their first drive of the second half, Kamara caught a ball from Shough on second-and-5 and picked up the first down.

However, while running out of bounds, he was tackled by Steelers linebacker Payton Wilson, who grabbed Kamara around the head and neck area.

Then, Wilson tackled him hard to the ground while both players were nearly out of bounds already. The officials threw the flag for a personal foul and added 15 yards for the Saints offense.

While Wilson would make up for it in-game by intercepting a pass on the same drive, he could be fined by the NFL. According to the NFL fines and appeals schedule, a late hit can result in an $11,941 fine for a first offense and $17,911 for a second offense.

If he is fined, Wilson would have the ability to appeal. Fortunately for Kamara, he was not injured during the play.
