The Pittsburgh Steelers walked into Detroit and picked up a major victory over Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions.
With a win over the Lions in Week 16, the Steelers earned their third straight win in the latter half of the season. Pittsburgh defeated Detroit 29-24 to earn its ninth win of the season.
In the win over the Lions, Goff was involved in a controversial penalty, which included defensive end Alex Highsmith.
After the Steelers sent a few men rushing toward Goff, Highsmith was called for a penalty for tripping the Detroit Lions quarterback. The play costs the Steelers a 15-yard penalty in the second half of the matchup.
There's a chance that Highsmith will be fined for the play against Jared Goff.
The NFL gameday operations will likely review the play before announcing their decisions on penalties/fines for players involved in illegal actions each week.
A fine for tripping, which is also in the same category as kicking, striking, and kneeing, may cost the player involved a $12,172 fine for the first offense.
If it's the second offense for the specific player involved, they may receive a $17,968 fine.
This would be Alex Highsmith's first offense if the NFL game-day operations decides to fine the Pittsburgh Steelers star.
The decision on the punishment regarding Jared Goff will be released on Dec. 27 at 4 p.m. ET.
