The Pittsburgh Steelers finalized their 53-man roster on Tuesday.
One questionable move by Pittsburgh was the release of cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr. The 25-year-old became a fan favorite after he recorded four interceptions during his rookie year in 2024. Yet, the franchise still decided to release him on Tuesday.
Bishop was placed on waivers, where any team in the league could have claimed him; however, no other team had a need for him, and he will now return to Pittsburgh on the practice squad. Bishop will be eligible to be elevated for games and will practice with the team.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero was the first to report the news.

Steelers fans were disappointed after the news broke that Bishop was going to be released, but luckily, he cleared waivers and is being brought back.
Pittsburgh upgraded the secondary throughout the 2025 offseason, so Bishop's absence from the roster in 2025 was always a possibility.
He struggled at times, so his release and subsequent re-signing to the practice squad should not come as a surprise.
