Steelers can still add big playmaker on Day 3; Top 5 targets in Round 4
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers went home late on Friday night after a very successful day one and two in Kansas City. Thus far they've drafted two defensive players, and two offensive players. They also have made two impactful trades. One of course was when they moved up to select mammoth offensive tackle Broderick Jones on Thursday night. In an effort to get back a pick in the fourth round the Steelers dealt pick #80 to the Carolina Panthers for pick #93 and #132. This allowed the team to re-gain a fourth-round pick after sending their own to the New England Patriots in the Jones deal.

Steelers Could Look At Kelee Ringo: CB - Georgia

Ringo was a player that was linked to the Steelers in the first, second and third rounds of this year's draft at various points of the offseason. It's no surprise as the young corner is athletically gifted with a 4.36 second 40-time and played on a prominent Georgia defense loaded with other NFL-ready talents.

The question has always been, what can he become? He could become an All-Pro corner with the ability to stick with any receiver that runs towards him, but he is a project and it appears other NFL teams are not so confident in Ringo's ability.

Bryce Ford-Wheaton: WR - West Virginia

Ford-Wheaton is another player that the Steelers always knew was going to be available in the later rounds. The team brought him in earlier this month to Pittsburgh for an official top 30 visit. He is a player with more blinding speed than anything, but he has ran into problems with drops at times. Even with pro comparisons to DK Metcalf and DJ Chark, Ford-Wheaton seems limited in his ability to run routes and make plays in the clutch. Even if the Steelers don't grab Ford-Wheaton in round four he could still be available if they can find their way back into the 5th round.

Henry To'oTo'o: ILB - Alabama

The Steelers seem to have gone down the list in the draft of the biggest team needs and found a way to fill them perfectly. The additions of Jones and Joey Porter Jr. with their first two picks in the draft this year shows that the team is still looking to fill needs with the best player available. Insider linebacker was already a thin position even with the top guys still on the board, but with them gone it's even thinner. To'oTo'o is arguably the best available heading into Day 3. He's strong in coverage something that the Steelers current linebackers aren't.

A projected third-rounder, To'oTo'o fell out of day two on Friday and might be available still for the Steelers at 132.

Nick Herbig: OLB - Wisconsin

The Steelers have already added a Wisconsin defensive player in the draft, adding Keeanu Benton late in the second round on day two of the draft. Depth is key at this position, and with two great outside guys already on the roster in TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith, Herbig could come in and help to give them a breather when needed. Currently the Steelers are paper thin at outside linebacker depth. Herbig comes with a family connection as the team signed his brother Nate to a contract during free agency.

The Steelers have consistently been linked to edge rushers throughout the offseason. With rumors of taking Lukas Van Ness in the first round circling before the draft, do not be surprised if the Steelers add a key depth piece with their first pick on day three.

Antonio Johnson: S - Texas A&M

The Steelers re-signed Damontae Kazee, and signed free agent Keanu Neal, but neither of them will be long term fixtures in the secondary. Tre Norwood is entering his third season, but he hasn't shown the ability to be a consistent player outside of flashes here and there. Johnson has the ability to play box, safety or big nickel and his ability to react quickly in run and pass situations is something the Steelers will look for in a safety that plays next to Minkah Fitzpatrick.

This could fill in a gap that some fans thought Brian Branch would while not costing the team nearly as much in draft capital.
