Once again, the Pittsburgh Steelers are being patient and waiting for Aaron Rodgers' decision.
The former MVP doesn't know whether to retire or come back, just like the past couple of years.
This time, however, they're no longer stuck with him as their only option.
According to NFL insider Matthew Berry, the Steelers feel comfortable waiting for as long as Rodgers wants because they're confident in his backup if he decides to walk away.
"I was told they want Aaron Rodgers to return and be their starter this year, but if for some reason that doesn’t happen, Pittsburgh loves Will Howard. They would more likely start Howard for the year rather than paying one of the Kyler/Geno batch of guys," Berry wrote.
Howard missed most of his rookie season with an injury, but he got to sit and learn from one of the greatest passers of all time for a full year.
While not an elite prospect or the most athletic young quarterback out there, he's a born leader with a high football IQ and an impressive work ethic, not to mention a former national champion at Ohio State.
Of course, he's still an unproven player who may not have the highest ceiling, but he'd be a cost-controlled option for the Steelers before a promising 2027 quarterback class.
For now, Mike McCarthy's team will hope to have Rodgers behind center in 2026. But if he isn't, it may not sound the alarms in Pittsburgh.
