It's no secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for help in their skill groupings.
Later this week, they will host former Buffalo Bills WR Gabe Davis to a visit in hopes of adding some juice to their WR corps.
But that was thought to mean the end of trade discussions between the Steelers and the Miami Dolphins regarding TE Jonnu Smith.
Not so fast...
Back in it: the Steelers renewed conversations today with Dolphins TE Jonnu Smith, who is seeking a new contract. The trade between the Steelers and Dolphins is still alive, per source.

The news comes just hours after Schefter announced that the Steelers would host Gabe Davis, in which he also wrote that the Steelers were no longer expected to trade for Jonnu Smith:
Sources: Former Bills and Jaguars WR Gabe Davis is scheduled to travel to Pittsburgh on Wednesday to visit with the Steelers on Thursday.Pittsburgh has been seeking additional receiving help and has inquired about, but is not expected to trade for, Miami TE Jonnu Smith.

So this seems to be a classic case of the player's agent, (who in this case is one of the best in the business) Drew Rosenhaus, trying to drive up the price on the Dolphins, who he admitted is the preferred choice for his client, Jonnu Smith.
"Here's what I will say on behalf of my client: Jonnu [Smith] would definitely like to stay in Miami. That's his first choice," Rosenhaus told the Miami Herald. "This is where he lives in the offseason. He had a record-breaking season last year. It was the best season ever for a Miami Dolphin tight end. ... He broke the team record for receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns for a tight end and was the team's single Pro Bowl player. He's an incredibly valuable part of this team. ... He went to college at FIU. His dream team is the Dolphins."
So we will see what comes of what is yet another offseason saga for the Steelers. Perhaps Jonnu stays after all. Or maybe Pittsburgh decides they are willing to pay and they add one of the league's most dynamic TEs.
