Steelers’ Defense In Danger Week 2 Loss To Seahawks

The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted the Seattle Seahawks on the NFL Week Two slate of games. Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers led the team to an exhilarating come-from-behind victory over his former employer on the road last week. The defense needed to give the veteran more of a cushion and avoid another shootout. Not only did they allow more than 30 points again, but the offense had a regression of its own. What happened in the game, and what is going on in Pittsburgh?

Steelers Vs. Seahawks

The game was competitive and low-scoring until the fourth quarter. It was tied 14-14, but the Steelers’ defense then gave up 17 points to an underwhelming Seattle team. The former Green Bay Packer wasn’t doing them any favors either. Fans pondered if Week One was purely adrenaline for Rodgers from playing the New York Jets, and these questions were answered. His 203 passing yards equated to one touchdown and two interceptions. How much time will pass before he starts whining and pointing the finger?

The Steelers’ Defense Is In Trouble

The Pittsburgh defense, which was expected to bounce back after allowing an uncharacteristic 32 points to the Jets, allowed just one less point against the meddling Seahawks. Their 2024-25 defense started strong as one of the best scoring defenses in the NFL, but the performances worsened near the end of the season. What was written off due to fatigue from carrying a shameful offense may have carried over into this year’s reality. The run defense is nonexistent, and the pass defense is allowing 212 yards per game, albeit in a small, two-game sample size.

End Of My Pittsburgh Steelers Rant

The team now has a 1-1 record, and the path they took was so jarring and inconsistent that fans are uncertain what to expect next. The Steelers’ elite defense over the years has earned the franchise some leeway; however, they have just one playoff or regular-season game in which they allowed less than 20 points since December 2024. It’s a matter of time before Rodgers overstays his welcome, so the defense had better lock in.
