On Monday the Steelers decided to split up one of the four sets of brothers they have on the team. The team anounced they have released RB/FB Trey Edmunds. With this transation it leaves a roster spot open. Who will replace Trey Edumnds? There a couple players in mind they could aquire to help them this upcoming season.

Joe Haden (CB)

Do the Steelers bring back a familiar face? The need for help in the back seven is obvious. Haden knows the system and has played solid ball for them in the past. He could help mentor the young guys while also showing he has what takes to still be a productive player in the league. Starting 25 games over the past two seasons, Haden recorded 2 INTS and 18 PBU. Even without the interceptions, Haden was easily the Steelers most consistent CB and should get a look to come back. A fan favorite may be on his way back for the 2022 season.

Quinton Spain (G)

Staying in the division? Possibly. With the subpar play from the line last year and a hightened desrie for better line play from Dan Rooney why not look at the mauler from the rival Bengals? Last season Spain recieved a 72.3 Player grade from PFF, Only allowed 5 sacks while only getting called for 4 penalties. He plays with a chip on his shoulder, deeming himself “Mr.Undrafted” on twitter. He is a passioniate leader and was a vocal guy in a Bengals lockerrom that made it all the way to the Superbowl. If the Steelers are serious about upgrading up front, the possible pair of Spain and James Daniels at the guard positon will give you an immediate upgrade over last years guard duo. Add him into the mix with Kendrick Green and Kevin Dotson to see who earns the starting nod at guard.

Devonta Freeman (RB)

Look, the time is now to get help for Najee Harris. Dispite his recent comments concerning his workload, the Steelers can not expect to consistently give him the ball 400 times a year and expect him to make it through a grueling season. He trains his body and is more than capable of it, but to highlight all the good that Najee does for this team, they need someody that can come in and take 10-18 snaps without significant drop off. Devonta averaged 4.3 Y/C last season along with 5 TDs. He definitely is not who he was in Atlanta, but can still get it done with some productivity. najee gettting so well needed rest and no drastic fall off in prodiction? Sign me up.
