The two quarterbacks that are on the Pittsburgh Steelers' roster are Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson, and the team could be on the lookout for their field general of the future in the upcoming NFL Draft as a result.
In a recent piece by Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport, he outlines six picks in the 2025 draft that all feel inevitable. With just two weeks until it's time to draft, he thinks that the Steelers taking Ole Miss star Jaxson Dart at No. 21 is bound to happen.
"Even if Aaron Rodgers does eventually decide to sign with Pittsburgh, it still needs a long-term solution under center. And if the veteran spurns the Steelers, the team has (with all due respect to Mason Rudolph) a gaping hole at quarterback," Davenport writes. "Taking Dart at No. 21 may give some Pittsburgh fans Kenny Pickett flashbacks. But the Ole Miss product is a better arm talent—taking him in the back half of Round 1 isn't a reach given the Steelers' need at the position."
The team cannot count on Aaron Rodger coming in free agency, so getting some insurance through the draft could be their best bet.
Dart had a spectacular senior season at Ole Miss, as he led the SEC in passing yards with 4,279 and completion percentage with just over 69 percent. He was also able to get it done with his legs, racking up just under 500 yards and three rushing touchdowns.
If the Steelers decide they want to draft a quarterback with their first-round pick, then Dart could be a very solid player to take a chance on.
