The Pittsburgh Steelers have been waiting for a decision from veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers for just about two months now, and there is still no clear timeline on when a decision will be made. However, the fan base in Pittsburgh has gotten many little hints that Rodgers will eventually be signing a contract with the Steelers. Whenever the team's brass has spoken publicly about the matter it always seems optimistic, and Rodgers spoke highly of the Steelers and his visit with the team when joining The Pat McAfee Show a couple of weeks ago.
The fan base has grown frustrated as the wait continues to hear about what the quarterback is going to do with his future, but he is a much better option than what is on the roster currently. Mason Rudolph is inconsistent and has proven on multiple occasions that he should not be a starting quarterback in the NFL, while Will Howard was a sixth-round pick that needs to develop, and Skylar Thompson is nothing more than a practice squad player.
The quarterback room in Pittsburgh is rough, and the Steelers are desperate for Rodgers to sign with the team. Local radio host Andrew Fillipponi had some good news for fans, as he heard Rodgers joined a local golf club.

It would make sense that Rodgers would be looking for a golf club to join wherever he ends up.
He has always been an avid golfer as he is usually playing in events throughout the country, and he even played in The Match with Tom Brady. The way the course is described it sounds like one Rodgers would be interested in as it is designed by one of the best golfers in history in Jack Nicklaus.
This news certainly doesn't confirm anything, but it is hard to ignore. The veteran quarterback joining a golf club in the Pittsburgh area, meeting with the team, and getting together with DK Metcalf for a throwing session are all signs that point to him eventually wearing the black and gold. Rodgers would give the Steelers a chance to compete in the AFC as long as he can play the way he did near the end of the 2024 season. He was shaking off some rust to begin the year while coming back from his Achilles injury, so his play should be better in 2025.
The four-time league MVP would elevate the offense in Pittsburgh, and he could also serve as someone to learn from for Howard. Rodgers would be nothing more than a band-aid at the position, but he could aid in the develop of the rookie who could one day turn into more than a backup.
It is unclear when Rodgers will announce a decision for his future, but the quarterback should be expected to sign prior to training camp. He could drag this out for the entire summer, as he has made it clear he has never been a fan of the offseason activities teams put together. June 10th is another critical date to watch, as it will kick off mandatory minicamp in Pittsburgh.
It would probably be smart for the veteran to get in the building during this time to begin to learn the playbook and start to build some chemistry with his teammates, but it is hard to predict anything that could happen with Rodgers.
The quarterback could still decide to retire, but everything seems like he will be the starting quarterback in Pittsburgh in 2025.
