Steelers Get Huge Boost in Salary Cap

The Pittsburgh Steelers, along with the rest of the league, are going to see a major boost in their salary cap this offseason as the NFL has set the floor at a record-breaking $255.4 million.

The league was originally expecting a number near the $242.5 million mark but will not get another $13 million to work with this offseason. For the Steelers, they're now roughly $7.5 million under the cap as opposed to the $4 million they were anticipating being over.

The NFL announced today that the 2024 Salary Cap will be $255.4 million per club, with an additional $74 million per club payment for player benefits, which includes Performance Based Pay and benefits for retired players.

The move increases the salary cap by $30 million over the course of a year and also includes $74 million per team in club payments for player benefits. That includes performance-based pay and retirement benefits.

The Steelers have a number of options to add to their salary cap space, including restructures for T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward, Minkah Fitzpatrick and Alex Highsmith. They could also begin releasing players for more space.

So far, the team has released Mitch Trubisky, Chuks Okorafor and Pressley Harvin III.
