George Pickens is a lot of things to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

A playmaker, a headache, and a question mark.

The question mark is, what does his NFL future look like?

Well, Omar Khan doubled down on his time with the Steelers during Monday's league owner's meetings...

Steelers plan to keep George Pickens

“You need more than one receiver in this league, and we're fortunate we have George and Calvin (Austin) and excited about what Roman (Wilson) is going to be able to do for us," said Khan on Monday.

The sentiment echos what he said at the NFL Combine regarding Pickens' future, even though that was days before the Steelers made the blockbuster move to trade and extend WR DK Metcalf.

"I had a really solid exit meeting with GP [George Pickens] and I can tell you that he has a desire to be great. He has a desire to be great here. We have a desire for him to be great and to be great here," said Khan in Indy. "We'll see with respect to the contract, you know, we won't discuss that publicly and usually those things are addressed at a later date."

What cannot be ruled out, however, is the selection of a WR in round one of the NFL Draft. The most popular candidate is Emeka Egbuka, a talented do-it all playmaker that works better alongside DK Mertcalf's playstyle than George Pickens.

If the Steelers decide to go said route, than Pittsburgh will have an easy out with Pickens. Sure, maybe they hold onto him through camp and even the trade deadline, but as he sits in the final year of his deal, they can decide to let him walk in free agency.

So as usual in life, action does more than talk. If the Steelers are truly in on making George Pickens apart of their plans beyond 2025, it's simple. They extend him and have two of the most dynamic wide receivers in the NFL tied to their roster for years to come.

But if they aren't, then enjoy watching Pickens in what could be a breakout year, as he will likely be headed to a different market entirely after the 2025 season concludes.

So take Khan's words at face value because it's true for now. Will it be true in 2026?

Time will tell.
