Steelers HC Mike Tomlin reveals excitement of having pick No. 32

For the first time under head coach Mike Tomlin, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be the first team on the clock to begin a day during the NFL Draft — kicking off the second round on Friday — and with it comes an opportunity the coach is looking forward to.

"Man, we're excited about it," Tomlin told reporters during the team's pre-draft news conference. "The thing we're least familiar with about it is the amount of calls that we will be or could be getting."

Having the pick to begin Day 2 of the 2023 NFL Draft is certainly valuable, as players with first-round grades will likely still be available.

Could Pittsburgh consider a trade down?

All options are on the table, but it would likely have to be a great deal for the Steelers to trade out of the spot they acquired from the Bears for WR Chase Claypool. They have multiple needs, and pick No. 32 could easily fill one of those.

Tomlin did add the team is preparing to receive "the amount of interest that that pick could have" and "that's a good and exciting possibility."

Of course, this only adds to the speculation ahead of the draft ,but it's clear Pittsburgh is in a great spot with the ability to move up, down or stay put.
