Steelers' huge win over the Colts comes with a loss they can't afford after key offensive starter reaggravates lingering injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers were on the verge of continuing a trend they wanted no part of on Sunday. Headed into the game against the Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh had lost two in a row and was one away from eight consecutive seasons with a three-game losing streak.

But then came the best defensive showing of the year for Pittsburgh. The defense finally played up to their pay grade, as the team tallied five sacks and six total turnovers when accounting for the muffed punt.

And the offense did their part, capitalizing off those turnovers and eventually keeping the game out of reach. A lot of that was thanks in part to being efficient with their chances, largely due to the big guys up front. Well, argubaly the best of those big guys left the game early for the Steelers.

Isaac Seumalo exits win vs. Colts with pec injury

Seumalo was questionable coming into he game with a pec injury, and he seems to have reaggravated it during Sunday's game. Now, Seumalo did stand on the sideline for the remainder of the game, which could indicate that the Steelers were just being cautious.

Had he been seen entering the blue tent or heading for the locker room, suddenly, there is a lot more concern. The Steelers have always played it safe with Seumalo, as he often receives veteran rest days during weekly practice.

And with the game largely out of reach by the time he exited, perhaps that was why. And if you're the Steelers, that would be smart. It's hard to put into words how valuable Seumalo is to the Steelers' rushing offense.

A lot of the Steelers' success on the ground has come from their jumbo package. That's where Spencer Anderson, the team's backup left guard, enters the game, and the Steelers go six offensive linemen and put Darnell Washington in the game to bludgeon opposing defenses.

Well, if Seumalo is out, Pittsburgh has to start Anderson, and the jumbo package is obsolete.

So we'll see what his status looks like this week, but the Steelers will need him going forward, especially against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night next week.
