Steelers' Kenny Pickett has fourth-best selling NFL jersey of 2022

Pretty much every report and update on the subject says that the Pittsburgh Steelers will be starting free-agent acquisition Mitchell Trubisky at quarterback over first-round draft selection Kenny Pickett and career backup Mason Rudolph for at least Week 1 in September. If the season started today, Pickett likely would be third on the depth chart and an inactive spectator.

One nevertheless can't blame Pittsburgh fans for feeling hyped over the rookie signal-caller.

As Jordan Dajani pointed out for CBS Sports, NFL Shop announced that Pickett is fourth on the list for the best-selling jerseys of 2022, to date. The 24-year-old is also the only rookie to land in the top 10 spots.

First is quarterback Russell Wilson, who was traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Denver Broncos this offseason. Buffalo Bills star signal-caller and Most Valuable Player candidate Josh Allen is No. 2. All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams moved from the Green Bay Packers to the Las Vegas Raiders and is third.

Un-retired Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady finishes out the top five.

"What's pretty neat is that Pickett played his college ball at Heinz Field as a member of the Pittsburgh Panthers, so he's already a fan favorite despite the fact that he will likely not start the season," Dajani noted.

He's probably right, as ESPN's Brooke Pryor believes Pickett has only a "2%" chance to unseat Trubisky as Pittsburgh's QB1 this summer.
