Steelers' Kenny Pickett Is A Victim Of A Polarizing Rant On The Carton Show 'He Is Not A Good QB'
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers are 4-2 through seven weeks of the 2023 NFL season. The offense has been shaky for the majority of the year, and the team is being out gained by a total of 660 yards by their opponents, yet are two games above .500 so far. They are second in the AFC North and fifth in the AFC overall. Despite where Pittsburgh is at in the standings, and the fact they are on a two-game win streak, many people in NFL media are still questioning whether or not the Steelers are a "good" football team.

Steelers And Kenny Pickett Blasted On The Carton Show

The Steelers came away with a surprising and hard fought victory in Week 5 against the Baltimore Ravens, and then they were able to travel across the country to play the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7, coming away with another win. The Steelers are on a winning streak with a home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars coming up in Week 8, which will be a hard contest as the Jaguars sit at 5-2.

On Wednesday morning, Craig Carton of The Carton Show was asked by his co-host whether or not the Steelers would be able to stay hot based on their upcoming schedule. He had a quick response that was quite disrespectful to the Steelers considering everything they have accomplished so far this season.

"No! They're not a good football team. And I love Mike Tomlin, and he's been nothing but a success, he's a great story, blah blah blah."

Calling a team with a 4-2 record a bad football team doesn't make sense. They were able to beat the Ravens who have a 5-2 record and absolutely dismantled one of the best teams in the NFC in the Detroit Lions in Week 7 by a score of 38-6. They also beat the 4-2 Cleveland Browns who have been praised nonstop for their overpowering defense. It's not like the Steelers have four wins against bottom of the barrel teams, they can compete against some of the best. Carton continued to destroy the Steelers, this time by picking on their second-year quarterback.

"Kenny Pickett has not thrown this year for more than 235 yards in a single game. And the game they just played where they beat the Rams, no touchdowns and 230 yards. So we're talking about a game manager, Kenny Pickett is not a good quarterback."

First of all, Kenny Pickett did have a touchdown, it just came in the running game. Secondly, it's obvious Carton just looks at box scores after certain games. Next week if Pickett throws for 250 yards, Carton will talk about how he has never thrown for 255. Pickett's ability to throw the ball into tight windows and move the ball late in the game was one of the main reasons the Steelers came out victorious. Would Steelers fans all love it if Pickett threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns every game? Absolutely. For now, he is being what the team needs him to be

A former Steelers player was sitting at the table with Carton when he made these blasphemous comments. Willie Colon, who was an offensive guard for the Steelers from 2006 through 2012 and was a member of the team that won Super Bowl XLIII, quickly came to the defense of his former team.

"They're 4-2. They're 4-2! Say what you want! At the end of the day, and you said it yourself, a win is a win."

Colon was growing visibly frustrated with Carton and his comments, stating that even if the Steelers go on to beat the 5-2 Jaguars, Carton will probably go on the same rant. Pickett hasn't been anything spectacular, but has also shown major improvements over the last year while the Steelers defense has been able to keep them in a lot of games. Overall, they are a good team.
