Steelers Legend Wants Team To Move On From Aaron Rodgers

One of the greatest players in Steelers history is letting his thoughts be known on the team's Aaron Rodgers situation.

Hall of Fame DB Rod Woodson, who was drafted 10th overall by Pittsburgh in the 1987 NFL Draft and spent the first decade of his career in the Steel City, recently gave his take on the franchise keeping the proverbial light on for the 42-year-old QB.

Not much progress has been made on a deal between Rodgers and the team just yet — and frankly, the Steelers need for than just a one-year bandaid at their biggest position of need — which Woodson also admitted while appearing on the "Rich Eisen Show."

Rod Woodson: Steelers shouldn't wait on Rodgers, should've drafted Jaxson Dart

Sitting down with the longtime sports talk personality, the 11-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champ argued that Pittsburgh just needs to "move forward."

"What is it with these ex-Green Bay Packers quarterbacks that they have to be talked about all the time?" Woodson asked. "'Cause Brett Favre was that way for years. Remember how we used to have to talk about Brett Favre, talk about Brett Favre."

"... Is he gonna play? Listen, I get kinda tired of it," he continued. "Listen, if he's gonna play, say he's gonna play, he's gonna come back. And the team shouldn't wait for Aaron Rodgers. They need to move forward."

"They should've taken Jaxson Dart," the 1993 Defensive Player of the Year added. "He fell to them. It was the best opportunity for them to take that quarterback who has that swag, kinda fit into that Steeler mold. And now, what are they looking for? That quarterback of the future still."

Aaron Rodgers says 'no deadline' on potential NFL return

Despite GM Omar Khan and the Steelers indicating that they'd be open to having Rodgers back in the black and gold next season, Rodgers maintains that there's been "no contract offer or anything" and that he plans on enjoying his time away from football.

"There's nothing I'm having to debate between. I'm a free agent," Rodgers told the "Pat McAfee Show" earlier this month (via NFL.com). "Again, I'm enjoying my time with my wife and enjoying this part of the offseason. I think there's conversations to be had down the line. But right now, I'm not. ... There hasn't been any progressive conversations."

Clearly Rodgers in no rush to make a decision — nor should he be. But that doesn't mean the Steelers have to wait for him with such a pressing hole at the most important position and no playoff wins in 10 years.
