Steelers linked to another star WR

The Pittsburgh Steelers have already made two huge moves at the wide receiver position this offseason, and they may have interest in a third.

Adam Crowley of 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh ignited trade speculation on Friday morning with a post on social media that simply said “Chris Olave.” The assumption was that Crowley had heard something about the Steelers potentially having interest in the New Orleans Saints receiver.

According to Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com, the Steelers have discussed the possibility of trading for Olave. The talks are believed to be “extremely preliminary,” however.

D.K. Metcalf is ready to take over as Pittsburgh’s No. 1 wide receiver after he was acquired in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks earlier this offseason. The Steelers have a need for a second option in the passing game after they then traded George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys.

Olave, the 11th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, had more than 1,000 yards receiving in each of his first two seasons with the Saints. He missed significant time last year after suffering multiple concussions, which limited him to just 32 catches for 400 yards and a touchdown.

It is unclear what the Saints would want in return for Olave or whether they would even be willing to deal him. The former Ohio State star is under contract for two more years after New Orleans picked up his $15.5 million option for 2026.

The Steelers acquired a third-round pick when they traded Pickens, so it is possible they could try to use that to trade for a player like Olave. A move like that might also help them entice the most important player they are still trying to sign.
