Yesterday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler highlighted the Chiefs’ interest in adding a receiver ahead of the deadline, but he also noted the Steelers could be a team to watch in that market as well.
Mark Kaboly wrote a piece on his social media, saying he thinks the team will be interested in adding a “semi-big” name to the receiver room.
“The plan is to go semi-big, but sometimes that is easier said than done,” Kaboly wrote. “It helps that the trade deadline isn’t until Nov. 10, which will push many teams into that sellers’ market by then. They looked big at at the last couple of deadlines, and it never quite worked out for one reason or another.”
Jason La Canfora also talked about Pittsburgh in his latest notebook, and he anticipates the team will make a move or two ahead of the deadline. According to La Canfora, the Steelers’ brass understands they need another offensive playmaker even after adding WR D.K. Metcalf from the Seahawks before the 2025 season.
One scout named Chargers WR Ladd McConkey as someone QB Aaron Rodgers would like throwing to, while also bringing up Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. as a name to watch.
Thomas headlines the receiver position in our Midseason Trade Block, along with Colts WR Josh Downs, and Chargers WR Quentin Johnston among others.
Thomas, 24, was a three-year starter at LSU and earned third-team All-American and second-team All-SEC honors in 2023. The Jaguars used the No. 23 pick in the 2024 draft on him.
He’s in the third year of a four-year, $14,383,048 rookie contract that includes a $7,280,399 signing bonus. The contract also includes a fifth-year option for the team to pick up in 2028.
In 2026, Thomas has appeared in six games for the Jaguars, catching nine passes on 18 targets for 105 yards and one touchdown.
We’ll have more on the Steelers as the news becomes available.
