Steelers Major Quarterback Regret Predicted By Insider

When comparing the New York Giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers, one would think the Steelers check all the boxes as far as being the better team.

Is that about to change?

According to Joe Starkey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, who covers the Steelers, the Giants have done two things the Steelers have not done to make themselves successful on the road moving forward.

First, the Giants have won a playoff game this decade, doing do a few years ago in Brian Daboll's first season as an NFL head coach. The Steelers have made the playoffs more often, of course, but their first-round disappearing act has become customary in Pittsburgh.

Second, the Giants drafted the man who some think was supposed to be the Steelers' quarterback of the future, Jaxson Dart, with the 25th pick of the first round.

The Giants traded back into the round after the Steelers passed on the Ole Miss product and grabbed him.

According to Starkey, the Giants have a franchise quarterback now for the future, while the Steelers are still looking.

Starkey said he likes the Steelers' first-round selection, Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon. He cannot find fault with the club for wanting to build up the trenches. They drafted a position of need.

However, Starkey said, "nothing really matters if you don't have a quarterback."

Starkey now suggests the Steelers target Colorado's Shedeur Sanders or Alabama's Jalen Milroe. With the Steelers being shorthanded at quarterback, one of those two quarterbacks could be just what the doctor ordered for head coach Mike Tomlin.

The Steelers quarterback room thus far consists to two backups who are career journeymen. They signed Mason Rudolph in free agency and also had Skylar Thompson left over who signed a futures contract after the season. They are also waiting on a declining and diminishing skilled Aaron Rodgers to decide on whether he wants to be in Latrobe when the Steelers start training camp.

Either way, the Steelers still need a quarterback and many think they should consider drafting one on day two of the NFL Draft Friday night.
