Steelers' Mike Tomlin Continues With Same Ridiculous Responses

The Pittsburgh Steelers may have just played their worst game of the 2025 season so far. In a Week 13 contest that could have massive playoff implications down the road, the team laid a giant egg and failed in almost every aspect as it lost 26-7 to the Buffalo Bills. Two takeaways in the first half gave Pittsburgh a chance, but once that stopped, it gave up 26 unanswered points. There was almost nothing positive to take away from the performance, and the team will have to do some deep soul-searching to turn the season back around.

During his post-game press conference, Head Coach Mike Tomlin was asked about what he can and/or will do to fix this team as it heads into the home stretch of the season. He gave a very quick, short response on that front.

"I'm looking at everything," Tomlin said.

Everything does need to be looked at. Losing the yardage battle 372-166 is downright embarrassing. When the Steelers did not take the ball away, it felt like they could do nothing right on either side of the ball. In fact, they had 67 penalty yards in the contest, and they only had possession of the ball for roughly 18 minutes. There is not one aspect of this team that shouldn't be looked at closely.

First thing's first, quarterback Aaron Rodgers has not been the same player he was early on in the year. It is getting harder and harder to justify having him start games every week if he is going to keep having new career lows in such short spans of time.

Meanwhile, the defensive players have repeatedly spoken about what type of scheme it prefers to use. The problem is that it doesn't seem like Tomlin is listening to them, and it has resulted in miscommunications and way too many openings. In this case, all those openings came in the run game. The Bills racked up 249 total rushing yards in the contest, a lot more than all of Pittsburgh's offense in that game.

Many people have brought up the idea that the Steelers can only win and do well when they get takeaways. Recent performances have proven them right. They gave up zero points in the first 29 minutes of the game, as they had two takeaways. They gave up 26 points in the last 31 minutes, as the only turnovers came from Pittsburgh's offense.

Steelers Fans May Finally Not Trust Tomlin On His Word

While Tomlin said that he's looking at all aspects for potential change, this is not the first time that he said that in 2025. He said that after Pittsburgh's Week 8 loss as well. Some changes were made then, but the team soon reverted back to what it was before that. At the end of the day, lip service does not sit well with the fanbase, and they made sure that he knew that

It's no secret that Steeler Nation has grown tired of Tomlin over the years, as his once lovable "Tomlinisms" have become a case of "all bark and no bite." As a coach, it is very important to practice what you preach, because if you don't, your players won't take you seriously. If the head coach wants to demand change and a higher standard out of his players, he has to be the first one to do it.

Despite being tied for the AFC North lead, nobody around the team is in a good mood. The Steelers have lost four of their last six games, and nobody seems to have any answers for why the games are so bad. It all starts with Tomlin, and if he wants to look everywhere for changes, he has to start with himself.
