Steelers' Miles Killebrew Wins NFL Pro Bowl 'High Stakes' Challenge With An Astonishing Catch
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

After being snubbed in 2021, Pittsburgh Steelers safety and special teams ace, Miles Killebrew helped to kick off NFL Pro Bowl weekend on Thursday night with his performance in the “High Stakes” challenge portion of the NFL Pro Bowl Games. Killebrew competed against some premier athletes including Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith, Dallas Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland, and Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta to name a few.

Steelers' Ace For The Win

The “High Stakes” challenge was an event where players had to catch balls from a Jugs machine to appear like a typical NFL punt, but there was a twist. For every ball you caught, you had to try to catch the next ball with the previous balls still in your hands. Every player started with two balls and it went up from there. This made the challenge incredibly difficult and led to the jaw-dropping moment that Killebrew will be remembered for in the video below. Killebrew stepped up already holding five footballs, and the rest is history.

Steelers Celebrating Steelers

That astonishing catch was the last one successfully made in the contest and led to Killebrew being declared the winner. Killebrew went for one more while holding six balls, but he was unsuccessful This gave the AFC three points toward their total in the Pro Bowl Games standings. This was extremely entertaining to watch and included Killebrew celebrating with his fellow Steelers teammate, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Sticking with the Steelers safety theme, Killebrew was interviewed by ESPN's Ryan Clark. Killebrew provided a great answer when Clark asked about his strategy on how to dominate like only a Steeler can do.

“I'll tell you what, I was about neck-deep in prayer. I didn't know what I was going to do, we just went out there and got it done. So, glory to God.”

This led to laughter between Clark and KIllebrew. After, when asked about what it meant to be a Pro Bowler, Killebrew was more serious.

“It’s amazing, you know. Part of me feels like I’m undercover, you know what I’m saying? Hanging out with these great players is just an honor, I’m truly humbled and it’s been a lot of fun”.

Killebrew has been someone who has been easy to root for and has even been a captain for the Steelers. Killebrew, a First Team All-Pro player on special teams, is an impending free agent; probably the most important one from the 2023 Steelers team. He has become known for his ability to block punts at a high level. Killebrew blocked two punts in 2023 and both were in big moments against the Ravens the the New England Patriots. He also led the team with 13 special teams tackles, with 11 being solo tackles. Special teams are an undervalued portion of the game, so it is nice to see an underrated player get his time in the limelight.

We will see what happens this offseason concerning him returning to the Steelers in 2024. Do you think he comes back?
