Steelers OC responds to fans calling for his firing

Offensive coordinator Matt Canada responded Thursday to Pittsburgh Steelers fans' loud and clear desire for the team to fire him.

Followers of the Black and Gold serenaded the 51-year-old with "Fire Canada" chants during the team's Week 2 win over the Cleveland Browns on "Monday Night Football."

Despite scoring three touchdowns in their 26-22 home victory, two of the times the Steelers reached the end zone were on defensive plays.

On the first play from scrimmage, linebacker Alex Highsmith recorded a pick-six after Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson's pass was deflected by his intended receiver, tight end Harrison Bryant. In the fourth quarter, fellow linebacker T.J. Watt recovered a Watson fumble (forced by Highsmith) and took it 16 yards to the house for the game-winning score.

Outside of two field goals and two extra points, the only points Pittsburgh generated on offense came via a 71-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Kenny Pickett to wideout George Pickens in the second quarter.

Pickett finished the day 15-for-30 with 222 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception, and running back Najee Harris was the team's leading rusher with 43 yards on 10 carries.

Despite the loss, Cleveland outgained Pittsburgh 408 to 255 in total yards, including a whopping 198 to 55 count in rushing yards (even after losing Nick Chubb to injury in the first half).

Canada's club ranks second-to-last in the NFL in total offense (247.0 yards per game) and rushing yards per game (48.0).
