The Steelers will be unveiling these throwbacks against the Green Bay Packers in Week 8 on Sunday Night Football. The uniforms pay homage to the 1933 version of the team with notes of the 60's thanks to the gold jerseys, beige pants, and gold helmets.
These are sure to elicit some reactions. In years past, we have seen what the polarization that the color rush and bumble bee uniforms created among the fanbase and media, and I'm sure these will be no different.
Personally, a white pant to would have been a better look in my opinion, but these are meant to be a throwback and so the beige/khaki pants are what works best.
What will be interesting to see is the unquote spins players put on the uniforms. That is, what kind of cleats, gloves and style of socks do they wear to match the uniforms?
It's only fitting that the team wears them against the Green Bay Packers, the two most traditional franchises in the NFL. With Aaron Rodgers set to face his old team for the first time and in a new uniform, I'm sure there will be even more intrigue than what was already anticipated.
In all, the decision will add some juice to a mid season matchup that everyone already has circled on their calendar, and training camp hasn’t even started yet.
