Steelers Predicted to Land New QB Not Named Aaron Rodgers

The Pittsburgh Steelers badly need to figure out their quarterback situation. While Aaron Rodgers has been the talk of the town for the last month, he has still not signed with the team.

It's possible that the Steelers will continue waiting and hoping that Rodgers signs. However, they should also be looking at bringing in a young quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft, which is scheduled to begin on April 24.

At the very least, Pittsburgh would have a young quarterback to develop and potentially become their long-term quarterback after Rodgers.

To that end, a new prediction has been made that would see the Steelers landing a new quarterback not named Rodgers.

Bill Bender of The Sporting News has predicted that Pittsburgh will bring in Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers with the No. 83 overall pick in the draft.

"Ewers (6-2, 214) is the value pick for the Steelers if the other options don't pan out. Dart is a popular pick for Pittsburgh in the first round, but the memories of Kenny Pickett in 2022 might be too fresh. The Steelers also are in the mix for Aaron Rodgers. Ewers fits the Pittsburgh pedigree," Bender wrote.

"He passed for 68 TDs and 24 interceptions as a three-year starter, and he led the Longhorns to a CFP semifinal run. Ewers needs to become a better down-field passer – he was 38.2% on passes of 20 yards or more last season – but arm strength is not an issue. Pittsburgh also could go with Howard in this round if he falls. Ewers did battle injuries last season. Would he fit as a long-term option in Pittsburgh?"

Early on in the 2024 college football season, Ewers was expected to be in contention to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 draft. He played well, but not well enough to still be considered a first round pick.

During the 2024 season with Texas, Ewers completed 65.8% of his passes for 3,472 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
