Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger hopes to be 'last old man standing' in playoffs

While the young gunslingers may be getting most of the attention, there are plenty of veteran quarterbacks who are hoping to help their teams make deep playoff runs, including Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers quarterback says he hopes to be the last old man standing on his way to winning a third Super Bowl, something only four quarterbacks have ever done.

"It's fun to be a part of it with them," Roethlisberger told Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Obviously, if we were sitting at home and people were talking about the old guys and 'Why aren't you a part of it?' Then you'd be disappointed. But to be a part of it, to be in the tournament, it's an honor and a pleasure to be able to do it. I'm hoping we're not one-and-done. We're going to give it everything we have so I can be the last old man standing maybe."

Roethlisberger is joined by Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers, Drew Brees, Alex Smith and, of course, Tom Brady as the elder statesmen quarterbacks in this season's playoffs, as all of them are older than 35. Roethlisberger and Rivers are the only two older quarterbacks in the AFC, and both were drafted in 2004, though Rivers is now with the Indianapolis Colts after being drafted by the Chargers.

To become the last old man standing, Roethlisberger will first need to lead the Steelers to defeat the Cleveland Browns, who will be without head coach Kevin Stefanski.
