Steelers Ready to Move on From Aaron?

Former NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers has still not announced his decision on where he will be playing in the 2025 season, and the Pittsburgh Steelers seem to be losing interest as a result.

According to a report by Tony Pauline, Steelers general manager Omar Khan and the rest of the coaching staff are not panicking at all. In fact, they seem to have a plan involving one of the most exciting quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

“The choice of (Shedeur) Sanders makes a lot of sense for the team, as he’ll sit behind whoever is the starting quarterback for Pittsburgh in 2025," Pauline writes. "I'm told Tomlin is not afraid to go into the season with Mason Rudolph as his starting quarterback, as the team will lean on defense and their running game despite losing Najee Harris in free agency."

The unverified suggestion here is that Pittsburgh is prepped to move on from the indecisive Rodgers.

But Steelers fans? “Turned off” is the phrase being used.

Rodgers recently appeared on The Pat McAfee Show, and what he had to say did not give the Steelers any confidence. He seemed as if he was not sure what his plan is, so the team could be moving on as a result.

Rudolph has gotten the job done for the Steelers in the past, winning three straight games to end the 2023 season, which led the team to the playoffs. While he is not the team's first choice to start the season, head coach Mike Tomlin seems to trust him.

Rudolph, combined with a young quarterback the Steelers could draft in a week's time, could be enough to get the team through the 2025 season.
