Steelers Receive Bad News About Potential Trade Target's Availability

The Pittsburgh Steelers began the 2025 season with a record of 1-0 after sneaking past the New York Jets on the road. The offense was a bright spot, as the Aaron Rodgers-led unit found a way to put up 34 points, an impressive outing that excited the majority of the fan base. The team inked the veteran passer to a one-year deal back in June, so there are high expectations for the group as a whole. One of the areas the jury is still out on is wide receiver, despite Calvin Austin III's promising performance in Week 1.

There have been a lot of murmurs about the Steelers trading for another wide receiver, despite the acquisition of DK Metcalf in March. While Austin is showing signs of being a legitimate threat, a lot of eyes have turned to look at the Miami Dolphins. Tyreek Hill hasn't been his best self for roughly a year now, and it wouldn't be surprising if he got a jolt of energy with a change of scenery.

Pittsburgh has been tied to Hill several different times, but it takes two to tango. According to NFL insider, Dianna Russini, Miami has absolutely no plans to send the wideout off to play somewhere else.

It's important to note that things can change quickly. The Dolphins played terribly in their Week 1 loss, so a lot of eyes will be on the organization moving forward. Several individuals may be on the hot seat, which could lead one to believe that Steelers General Manager Omar Khan is paying attention to what might happen down in Miami.

Khan has proven to be an extremely aggressive front office leader, which is why fans and analysts alike are consistently tying the team to any potential trade target. The Steelers are seemingly always front and center in fresh rumors on a weekly basis.

Hill may be looked at as a bit of a controversial figure, but he is a talented and dynamic pass-catcher. There is no doubting that he would bring a new element to the Steelers' offense, but he tends to cause a few headaches when in a locker room. If Pittsburgh was interested in trading for him, the draft picks in 2026 are there to get a deal done. As of now, it seems as if the Dolphins still believe there is a lot of season left and Hill isn't going anywhere.

Teams around the NFL will continue to monitor Hill's availability, but it's also possible that the Dolphins leaked the information for one of two reasons. The franchise could want to tone down any negative noise in the locker room, or could be sending a message to any other organizations interested that he will not come as a cheap price.

Steelers May Not Need Help At Wide Receiver Position After All

Pittsburgh's decision-makers had to have been happy with what they saw from Austin in Week 1 against the Jets. He was efficient and found the end zone on a crucial drive. If he continues to perform at a high level, it might not matter what happens with Hill and the Dolphins. The Steelers could already have the second receiving threat that they have been needing for some time.
