Steelers rookie Kenny Pickett told dad he would bring a Super Bowl to Pittsburgh

The Steelers NFL-best six Super Bowl titles (tied with the Patriots) came with Terry Bradshaw and Ben Roethlisberger at QB. Rookie QB Kenny Pickett expects to add another Lombardi Trophy to the Steelers' trophy case.

After his post-draft tour of the Steelers' side of the facility, Pickett spoke with his father, Ken.

"When he got the tour of Pittsburgh and got to see those Super Bowl trophies, the next thing he said to me is, 'I'm gonna bring a Super Bowl back to Pittsburgh,'" Ken Pickett told The Athletic's Mike DeFabo in a story posted Thursday.

Pickett clearly gets his confidence from his father, who has had his son's back.

"Let him write his story because anyone who's ever doubted him has seen that they've made a mistake," Ken Pickett added.

As a redshirt player in 2017, Pickett made his first collegiate start against the undefeated Miami Hurricanes, then ranked No. 2. He led Pitt to a 24-14 upset.

Afterward, Pickett, then 19, said: "No matter what field I walk on, I feel like I'm the best player there," per DeFabo.

Pickett's mindset hasn't changed as he prepares to play Super Bowl favorite Buffalo in his first NFL start Sunday.

Steelers WR Chase Claypool asked Pickett how he was feeling before his first NFL snap last week. His response: "I'm feeling great. This is where I'm supposed to be," Pickett replied.

We will see if he exudes the same confidence following Sunday's game against the NFL's top pass defense.
