Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers has finally made the decision to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025, which means the team could be looking to upgrade the pieces around him.
In a recent article by Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport, he picks one player that every NFL team could consider trading before the 2025 season. For the New York Jets, that player is Allen Lazard, who has quite the connection with Rodgers.
"Not only is there no question that Lazard should be traded, but there’s no question where. Pittsburgh Steelers, come on down," Davenport wrote. "The reasoning is simple. Just about everyone expects Aaron Rodgers to eventually land in the Steel City. Rodgers likes to throw to receivers he has history with—that’s how Lazard wound up in New York to begin with."
The 29-year-old receiver has been in the NFL for seven seasons, and all seven of those seasons he has been on the same team as Rodgers.
Why should we make 2025 any different?
While his numbers did not jump off the page in 2024, he had six touchdowns compared to just one in 2023. This was due in no small part to the fact that Rodgers sat out all of 2023 with an Achilles injury that he suffered in the first week of the season.
The Steelers should be looking to upgrade their receiver corps after trading George Pickens, and their quarterback's former best friend should be a very intriguing option.
