Steelers Showing Interest In Blockbuster Wide Receiver Trade

The Pittsburgh Steelers have already made two blockbuster trades involving a notable wide receiver this offseason. Judging by the latest rumors, they're interested in making yet another deal.

Back in March, the Steelers acquired DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks. They had to part ways with their 2025 second-round draft pick in order to make it happen. Shortly after acquiring the veteran playmaker, Pittsburgh signed him to a five-year, $150 million contract extension.

Metcalf's arrival made former second-round pick George Pickens expendable. With that said, he was traded to the Dallas Cowboys last week for a package centered around a 2026 third-round pick.

Now that Pickens is out of the picture, Pittsburgh has apparently shifted its focus to a wide receiver in the NFC South.

According to Adam Crowley of 93.7 the Fan, the Steelers have shown interest in New Orleans Saints wideout Chris Olave.

Nick Farabaugh of PennLive provided an update on the trade rumors involving Olave. He said the Steelers did check in on the former first-round pick's availability. However, it doesn't sound like a trade will get done anytime soon.

"The Steelers are interested in the 24-year-old, but sources describe that call as a due diligence call," Farabaugh wrote. "In addition, sources tell PennLive that New Orleans does not seem interested in trading Olave. As of this morning, nothing is close to a trade or imminent."

For what it's worth, Saints head coach Kellen Moore was asked about Olave's future during the NFL Owners Meetings in March.

"Chris is a phenomenal player," Moore said. "He has had a huge impact on this team. He’s going to have a huge impact."

Unless the Steelers blow the Saints away with a huge offer, Olave will most likely spend the 2025 season in New Orleans.

The Saints have already picked up Olave's fifth-year option on his rookie deal, so he's under contract for the next two years.
