Steelers Sign Former Eagles LB
USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Kyron Johnson to their practice squad, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Johnson was the Eagles' sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and played 16 games as a rookie last season, mostly on special teams. The former Kansas outside linebacker was a second-team All-Big 12 selection his senior year after accumulating 6.5 sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss.

Johnson will join the Steelers practice squad to work with David Perales, who's been with the team all season after going undrafted out of Fresno State.

There shouldn't be much anticipation that Johnson could work his way onto the 53-man roster at this point, but it's another security blanket for the Steelers. Plus, with his special teams play, Johnson will be a reliable option to be elevated if the team needs to add an outside linebacker to their active roster for a game.
