Steelers Sign LB Tae Crowder; Place LB Marcus Allen on Reserve/Injured List Ahead of Week 17
Tom Horak-USA TODAY Sports

Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers made a few roster moves ahead of their Week 17 battle with their division rivals, the Baltimore Ravens. Mike Tomlin‘s team will travel to M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday night, hoping their playoff hopes are still alive by the time they reach kickoff.

The roster moves included the signing of former New York Giants linebacker, Tae Crowder. Crowder was a seventh round draft choice back in 2020 (255th overall), and was on New York’s practice squad. He will now join the black and gold’s 53-man roster. In a related move, the recently controversial linebacker, Marcus Allen, was placed on the Reserve/Injured List after he had bicep surgery earlier this week. The original injury occurred against the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Eve.

Along with these two moves, Pittsburgh also signed safety, Scott Nelson back again to their practice squad (was also on the practice squad back in October 2022). The former Wisconsin defensive back originally signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent earlier this year. He was later released.

Coach Tomlin mentioned in his weekly presser earlier on Tuesday that he expects safety Terrell Edmunds (hamstring) to return to practice this week and play against the Ravens. Tre Norwood (hamstring) will continue to be monitored, so the extra defensive back at practice in Nelson should be welcomed in preparation for the team’s biggest game of the season yet.
