The Pittsburgh Steelers are actively reshaping their roster following the 2026 NFL Draft by adding veteran depth to their defensive front. The team has officially re-signed defensive lineman Dean Lowry to a one-year contract, as reported by Ian Rapoport and Aaron Wilson.

Lowry, a 31-year-old veteran with nine years of NFL experience, spent the entire 2025 season sidelined due to a torn ACL sustained during training camp.

His return is significant for new head coach Mike McCarthy, who previously worked with Lowry at the Green Bay Packers. Over his career, Lowry has recorded 271 tackles and 16.5 sacks, providing a proven interior presence for a defense he is already familiar with from his 2024 stint in Pittsburgh.

In addition to the veteran signings, the organization is moving quickly to secure its newest draft picks. According to an update from Adam Schefter, the Steelers have officially signed third-round pick Gennings Dunker.

The offensive tackle from the 2026 draft class is expected to become a key component of the team’s offensive line, and finalizing his rookie deal marks an important step in the transition from the draft to the summer program.

The most anticipated development remains the potential arrival of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Although Rodgers is not currently at the team’s facility, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on SportsCenter that there is strong optimism regarding a contract agreement.

Fowler noted that despite his absence during the rookie minicamp, both General Manager Omar Khan and head coach Mike McCarthy have maintained ongoing conversations with Rodgers over the past few weeks.

Team officials feel that both sides are getting closer to a deal, with a visit and contract announcement expected soon.

For now, the Steelers are focused on their rookie minicamp and integrating players like Dunker, while maintaining a positive outlook on securing the veteran signal-caller to lead their 2026 campaign.
